A. PALM BEACH COUNTY
EDI team members were part of a team to formulate the plan for Ecotourism/Nature Based tourism for the County:
- Survey inventory available Ecotourism sites and capabilities for the general public (212 sites) development of brochure and marketing materials with carrying capacities guidelines.
- Coordinate the establishment of the Palm Beach County Ecotourism Association“Palm Beach County Nature and Heritage Tourism Association”
- Develop eco/heritage tour packages in Palm Beach County
- Work with local Hotel/Motel Associations to educate on available sites and tours
- Organize Second Annual Ecotourism Summit and Trade Fair
B. Grant Writing
Successfully received a $50,000 North American Wetlands Conservation Council grant for Salt Ponds Alliance, Key West, Florida.
C. The State of Florida Ecotourism/Heritage “The Plan”
Recommendations on the Statewide Plan to protect and promote the Natural, Coastal, Historical, Cultural and Commercial assets of Florida. (1997-2007)
D. Facilitating Development of Public/Private Partnerships
EDI personnel worked extensively with the business and environmental community to establish public/private partnerships that promoted environmental sustainability while generating significant profits.
E. Florida Ecotourism and Heritage Sub-Committee
Mr. Collins was a gubernatorial appointed member of the committee which is a division of the Florida State’s tourism commission (VISIT FLORIDA1997-2006)
